Page not editable; frozen reusable blocks

  • Hi,

I’m experiencing problems with several websites, using Generate Press (2.4.1) and Generate Blocks Pro (1.7.1) since I updated these plugins.

The page contains some (simple) reusable blocks. The page is frozen when I want to edit it. The reusable blocks don’t load. I can’t edit the page which causes nightmares, my business relies on GP.

If I create a new (test)page and when I try to add an reusable block, I’ll have the same issue. Page freezes.

    Please help…

    Kind regards,
    Martijn

  • Hi there,

it sounds like an issue with a re-useable block.
Is it specific re-useable blocks causing the issue ?

  • Hi David,

Yes. All reusable blocks are causing this issue when I try to add them to a (test)page.

Desperately hope you can help me out.

    Kind regards
    Martijn

  • If you go to Dashboard > Appearance > Patterns.
Can you edit any of the Patterns there ?

If so can you make a small edit to one , and re-save it. Then test if that causes an issue.

  • Hi David,

I’m able to edit the pattern via Dashboard > Appearance > Patterns.
    I’ve saved the alltered patterns.

If I now open the page, the page loads and is editable.
    No more freeze. Phew!

Does this mean I need to alter all my reusable items on every site?

    Kind regards,
    Martijn

  • Well first off – thats good to hear!
I can’t say if you will need to edit other sites patterns
It seems to be a very random bug where some patterns get messed up after the WP 6.6 update
We have had a couple of support topics here relating to it, and they were resolved by editing and resaving them.

So if the other sites are ok, then leave them be 🙂

  • Hi David.

Thanks for the support and advice.
I’m so glad that this workaround helps.
    You saved my life.

    Kind regards,
    Martijn

  • Glad to be if help!
