Hello,
How can I set the page width of normal pages in Affinity Site to be smaller?
When I create a page, the line length is currently much too long.
-
Hi there,
All pages on the Affinity site are full-width, the content width is controlled by individual container blocks.
You can check the sizing and spacing setting of container blocks in the imported pages, and you will see some of the root containers have max-width set to 1480px, margin-left and margin-right set to auto, and some of them are purely full size.
-
But I don’t mean the imported pages. I mean, if I create just a normal page. Then I have no container. There must be a way, to set the width of a normal page, but I did not find it. The page width should be like a normal post.
-
I just checked the template again, and it does not have a layout element to mass change the pages to full width, so if you create a new page, it should not be full width, but the default width that you set at customizer > layout > container > container width.
If you want the new pages to have the same layout as the post, you can edit the element called Content template – single post, and add your new pages to its location list.
-
But then, the page gets also the Hero and the other elements (date, author) from the template from the post, right? But in Affinity, the pages have a different header (purple hero), than the posts.

Hi there,
the simplest solution is to add a Container Block to the Page.
Set the Container Sizing > Max-width to the width you require and the Margin Left and Right toauto
Then save the Container as a Pattern ( NOT synced ).Whenever you need a contained width just add the container.
This way it won’t interfere with the other pages that are full width. or pick up elements you don’t require. -
Hi David,
should I add only one container, or also a inner container?
And if so, which container should have the width settings? -
One container is enough.
-
maybe a dumb question, but how can I set, that the container is center (in the middle of the page)?
Also, the page is not responsive, if I set the witdh to 800 pixel. Why is that?
-
No worries 🙂
To center the container, set
margin-left
andmargin-right
toauto
as David said in his reply:Set the Container Sizing > Max-width to the width you require and the Margin Left and Right to auto
Then save the Container as a Pattern ( NOT synced ).Set
max-width
instead ofwidth

Aha, I had set the auto on “Innenabstand”, but it must be on “Außenabstand”.
With max-width,it worksThanks!
-
Awesome! Glad to hear that 🙂
