Patterns with duplicate IDs

  • Hello,

    I think I’ve encountered a bug.

If I insert a pattern BEFORE the same pattern (with original IDs), it won’t regenerate new class IDs.
So both patterns will have the same IDs as the original pattern and it will reset custom styling until the new pattern is removed.

I can replicate this on multiple test sites with different WP versions.

    Pettern IDs

  • Hi there,

You can duplicate the pattern to generate a new set of IDs and remove the original pattern then.

Let me know if this helps!

  • I sure can, but do you think it’s a good experience for my client?

  • What version of GB and GB pro are you using?

This issue should’ve been fixed already, so even if you add the same pattern to the same page, it should generate new ids for the new blocks.

    Let me know!

  • I’m using GB 1.7.3 and GBP 1.5.2.

This behavior is easy to replicate:

    • insert a pattern
    • choose “insert before”
    • insert same pattern again

You can keep going and all of those patterns will have the same classes as the original.
