Yes olease George,
You’ve already given so many great tips that I completely trust you on this! You may change as much as you want.

Hi Jan.
Please have a look at the Home 2 page draft. Is this the layout you want to achieve?

Wow, George! How can I thank you for this? This is exactly how I wanted it, but I can’t create it myself. How can I make this the original homepage? Should the other homepage be discarded?
I have some more questions about the rest of the site (like placing thumbnails of YouTube videos in the existing blocks, if it doesn’t work). How can we make an agreement about this, because it takes away a lot of irritation for me. WP isn’t my best friend!
Thanks

Hey Jan, no problem. I just copied the block from the draft to the homepage so it should be fine, no need to discard the original page.
Any other questions, let us know, we will try and help!

Hi George,
I’ve run into the following problem. I want to insert text into the template’s photo blocks and add a thumbnail with a URL to the YouTube channel. This isn’t working because it seems all the blocks are connected. When I place a piece of text in one block, it appears in all the blocks. Can new separate blocks be created, or is there another way to handle this? Thanks in advance!

Hi there,
Are you only want to add new sections to certain posts instead of all posts?
And the links to YouTube will be different?
Let me know 🙂

Hi Ying,
I’d like all the blocks to work independently. This simply means having space at the top for a thumbnail with a link to a video on the YouTube channel, and below that, space for a piece of text with a headline. Everything works independently and always links to a different video.
Do you want to add new sections only to certain posts instead of to all posts?
If I change the headline or the photo, does that happen automatically for all the other text as well? That shouldn’t be the case. -
George
Hi Jan.
This section that you are editing is a query loop. A query loop reads certain posts, in this case the main posts and outputs a certain layout that will look the same for all “cards”. I understand that you want certain of this “cards” to work independently. Some of them will have the default
— Image
— Heading
— Description textand some other will have
— YouTube video thumbnail
— Heading
— Description textYou have two options.
1. You can have those “cards” as static. This means, they will NOT be populated by posts through a query loop, they will just have static images, video thumbnails and text that will never change when new posts are added.
2. If you want the list of posts to be populated by your posts, you will need to make use of a combination of custom fields (for the YouTube video) and GenerateBlocks Pro conditions.
Am I right in to assume that you are after no 1 solution?

Yes, George, that’s absolutely right. The first suggestion is correct. I want everything to work independently. The thumbnails are linked to a YouTube video, which is different each time. Those little headings like “Uncategorized,” “Beaches,” “Food,” and “Travel Tips” should also be removed.
Do you know how to configure this? I honestly have no idea.

Should the image video thumbnail link externally to a YouTube video, Jan?
-
JohnJohn
Yes, I just need to include a URL link with the thumbnail. Everything should point to YouTube, that’s the goal.

Hi.
Copy the block code from this page:
https://pastebin.com/g4LjN7H3Then paste it above your current parent container. You will see a grid with 6 containers. Each container contains an image, a title and a description text. Edit the images as required uploading your YouTube thumbnail where needed. To link to the YouTube video, select the image and from the right panel set the YouTube link and set it to open in a new window.

To remove containers, just delete the ones inside the grid.
Once you are done, you can delete the previous grid you were working on.

Hi George,
Feel free to edit the page as much as you can.
I think it’s great that you can do all this. The link is yours.Greetings

Sorry misunderstanding. I see I have to copy it myself.
But….Then paste it above your current parent container. Where can I paste these lines precisely?
Jan -
The best way to do it is to create a new page, click the 3 dots icon at the top right of the editor, click code mode, then paste the code, click exit code mode, and you will see the blocks.
Then you can select the root block, click the 3 dots icon beside the block name, click copy, and go to your current page, where you can paste the block there.

Thanks so much, George and Ying, for the explanation and the codes.
I’ve now created an extra page, but how can I replace the existing container?
And can I add a container that explains the Tradesdetective concept?
I’ll be back soon.
