Query Loop Missing Search Parameters

  • Hi,

Query loop has duplicate categories under taxonomy and missing search terms under parameters. This does not seem to be connected to caching.

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

Can you take a screenshot of the issue? You can upload it to https://postimages.org/ and share the link with us.

To confirm, does disabling all other plugins fix the issue?

    Let me know 🙂

  • Hi,

Below is the link to the gallery.

    https://postimg.cc/gallery/hQ44YJw

It has two images. One shows the duplicates under the taxonomy. The second shows the search terms under parameter. From the image, it is not apparent that the search terms are incomplete and are missing some categories.

    Thanks,

    Vishy

  • 1. The duplicated taxonomies don’t look right. Could you try disabling all other plugins to see if there is a conflict?

    2. By default, not all terms will be displayed for editor performance reasons. However, you can search for specific terms using a keyword or ID.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.

The purpose of the Query in my case is to display the items within a category.

“Search terms” are my category names in this case. When I tried to use the names of the categories as keywords, it did not work. Which means I cannot follow your instructions to use a keyword.

How do I display the posts for the categories I select if I cannot choose the category from my parameter?

    Thanks,

    Vishy

  • Can you provide an admin login to your site and let me know which category you are trying to add so I can see the issue?

Please edit your first post on this topic, and add the site credentials in the private info field. It will only be seen by the support team.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the help. Below is the access to the website.

The issue is functionality. Right now, “search terms” do not show the recent categories of “Mind” and “Support” that I added. I need the ability to change the homepage so that various sections display the categories as I add and change them. I don’t want to hardcode the page to show one category.

I have backed up the site so that you can investigate without worrying too much.

    Regards,

    Vishy

  • I’ve removed the credential from your post. This is a public forum; what you post in the post area will be seen by everybody.

Next time, please use the private info field for sensitive information.

  • I logged in and created a test page, added a query block, I DO see the Mind and support categories from the terms dropdown:
    https://app.screencast.com/XfFHdW9y1A7jy

It also worked when I tried to search the Mind category:
    https://app.screencast.com/dkMM1Nvvbnc1I

So I don’t see any issue with the query block.

Can you try logging into the site via an incognito window to test?

  • Thank you. I did not realize the support was provided through a public forum.

  • No worries, but since the credential was out in the public for some time, I would suggest changing your password immediately.

  • Hello Again,

I see the same issue in the incognito window. I am curious as to why your experience differs from mine. You may test differently.

I go to my homepage, which was imported from the demo site, and make changes. There, I see duplicated taxonomies and missing items in the Query loop.

Did you test the same way?

    Thanks,

    Vishy

  • Ah your template was built with v1 blocks, I tested in a new page with the v2 query block, so the result was different.

I checked your homepage, and tried searching the Mind category, it worked, please check the screenshot:
    https://app.screencast.com/9DcbrrfheTF6B

It was also in the dropdown list:
    https://app.screencast.com/sTVT6qYv2dmJj

Support category was also showing without an issue:https://app.screencast.com/qVKVjinKpW7BP

However, I do see the duplicated taxonomies. I wonder if you have other custom post types that have the same taxonomy names. Can you disable all other plugins to test?

  • Thanks again. The main challenge here is that you are way smarter than I am. I try to keep up.

  • Haha, that’s not true! I am just more experienced 🙂

  • Thank you for being kind. I changed the password.

I deactivated all plugins except those related to generated press. I still see a duplicate category.

I have no idea what v1 and v2 blocks are. Could you point me to where I go to learn how to update the v1 to v2 on my home page?
