Save Group Block for Reuse but to edit

  • I have created up a template of blocks for related posts inside the content of my articles. I am struggling to see how to save these group of blocks so that i can reuse them in other articles. I saved the whole related posts group block as a pattern, and it worked great when i went into a new post. However, when i go to get the list view i am unable to edit it other than the option that edits the original so when i have setup taxonomies for tags, it will change the other tag if this makes sense.

Basically i want a way to save a group of blocks for reuse but the ability to edit them in a post by post basis.

  • Hi there,

You need to detach the pattern first, so it becomes an independent block, and you can edit it without affecting others.

Or when you create the pattern, do NOT toggle the Synced option.

  • Ah the synced is probably where i went wrong, but the detach worked like a charm Thank you 🙂

  • You are welcome   🙂
