Hi Folks –
I’m running GP Premium 2.3.1/GB Pro 1.5.2/WP 6.2. I’ve been following along with Mike Oliver on his collective site – he did some great tutorials on the Explore site that’s in the GP Site Library. I imported this site, and it has some issues with it. The GP elements are missing, the static homepage is not set and the nav links on the homepage (home-2) for each of the four headlines in the image blocks are set to https://gpsites.co/explore/category/XXX. Changing them to my URL picks up the downloaded pages but without the elements, none of the posts display correctly. Would appreciate a fix so I can see the work he did on the elements. Thanks, David -
Hi David,
I just imported Explore on a fresh install and did not encounter any issues – we haven’t had any other reports on this either.
Can you first confirm that you’ve imported the theme options as well as the demo content?

Hi Leo – Thanks for the confirmation. I attempted to reimport three times on my demo5 url, clearing each time before import and always confirming the theme options. I also deactivated all the plugins before importing as an extra measure. Same symptoms each time.
I just dumped my existing WP install and ran a new, fresh install with the same tech stack on the backend of demo5. Still some issues, but different symptoms. The GP elements installed correctly, but several of the blog categories are not showing up in the front-page menu. Narrowed the installed tech stack down to the bare minimum, still no joy.
I’ve included login credentials below for three url’s. All of them have GP Explore imports that I just did in the last hour, and all have different issues. Demo5 is the site with the fresh WP 6.2 install, Demo3 and Demo4 have WP 6.1 upgraded to 6.2. I have been importing the GP sites many times without issue on my demo url’s and this was the first time it went boom.
Appreciate your support.

Hi David,
I logged in to the demo3 site, disabled your other plugins and imported the Explore template.
It looks normal to me, can you take a look and let me know if you find anything strange?
Let me know!

Hi Ying – Thanks for the help on Demo3 and it looks fine. Did you deactivate or delete the plugins and reinstall after import on Demo3?
I just tried again on Demo5. Other GP sites import just fine as can be. But the Explore site is giving me fits. I deactivated all the plugins, went through all the steps correctly, and if you take a look, you’ll see what I wind up with. I know you’re all busy and I appreciate the help you provide.

Did you deactivate or delete the plugins and reinstall after import on Demo3?
I disabled them.
But on Demo 5, after I disable them, and go to import the site, when the site import completed, they re-activated themselves.
In that case, I would recommend installing WP rest plugin and resetting the site, removing all the other plugins, then trying to import the site again!

Hi Ying – Wish I had good news, but alas, I do not. I took all the steps you suggested with WP Reset and no change in symptoms. I uninstalled/reinstalled WP via Softaculous as a plain vanilla install with nothing in the plugin stack, added GP Prem manually no change. I did clone demo3 to demo5 and it was okay.
Got with my host (who offers fantastic support) and they did a manual uninstall/reinstall on demo5. The only items I installed is GP Prem. Tried to import Explore from the site library – still a problem. I’ll leave demo5 where it is right now – have spent 5 hours today on this. User creds for your login are still available. Thanks, David

Is the only issue right the menu items?
If so would it be easier if you just recreate the menu manually so you can move on to build your site?
Here is the original menu for your reference: https://www.screencast.com/t/9zLWTmryF
