Site search with and without “spaces”

  • Hi,

Recently we launched a site with some products that is added through a custom post type using ACF.
Right now, it is possible to search for different products using the exact match for the title, example “22 mm”. If the users search for “22mm” it will get no search results.

I have been trying with different code snippets, using ChatGPT and Claude as help but I can’t get it to work.
Do you have any solution that might work?

    Best,
    Johan

  • Hi there,

If you’re referring to the search box on the homepage, it seems like searching for “22mm” is returning results on my end.

    See here: https://cln.sh/6VtRY5WX

  • Ah, sorry. I mean the search results when you press “Enter” after typing 22mm or 22 mm.

  • Have you checked with the search bar plugin’s support?

  • It has nothing to do with the search bar plugin, it is the core WordPress search results when you press Enter and actually search.

  • If the search is not from a 3rd party plugin, then it’s using WP’s default search function, and we don’t have control over that, unfortunately!

I would suggest checking with WP’s support on this.
