Starter templates and patterns

  • Hello,

I am planning an overhaul to my site design and would appreciate your feedback.

When I built my site using generatepress I did not use a starter template. Switching to a starter template will be tricky as I have a lot of CSS.

Could I ask about the actual generatepress website?
Do you use a starter template for your main page or is it custom made? It is quite clear and has clear calls to action. In addition, your videos are pop-up, which is better for page load speed.

I was looking at the “page” section in https://generatepress.com/pattern-library/ to see which one I can use that most closely resembles yours.

    Would really appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks!

  • Hello there.

The GeneratePress website is based on the GeneratePress theme but is custom made. You can start from scratch or use one of the starter sites, it’s up to you. The pattern library is a collection of patterns that can be inserted in parts of your website which you can then style accordingly. The site library can be found here.

These are complete sites that give you a head start for your design. You can import those sites to your own installation by going to Appearance->GeneratePress and clicking Site Library at the top right. Make sure you have activated the Site Library module from that page beforehand. Maybe you could find a site that you like, import it and start modifying fonts, colors, images, etc, to get a result you want.
