Styling and background issues

  • Hi everyone,
    Just a couple of examples of a few frustrations dealing with GB2
    (link in private)

    (Note, I imported the new Restaurant starter site)
    If you see the button A TEST, you will see the hover color is dark, but I have not defined this in the buttons class (.gbp-button–primary) – I made it a bright red, so it stands out, I see that color on hover when editing, but it returns to the dark hover when saved and viewed. The button section in the customizer does not appear to be it!)

    Secondly, I cannot find out where to adjust the background texture in the top container.
    .gb-element-e2a0c182:before {
    background-image: url(https://pwp.asn.au/staging/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/pattern.png);
    background-size: 300px;
    etc…
    I’ve looked extensively but cannot find where it is configured ?

    TIA, Dave

  • Hi Dave,

    Is this the correct color and hover color of the button?

    When I inspect the button, I notice the color keeps changing, perhaps you’re currently editing it?

    As for the second issue, check this out: https://cln.sh/d50LpNy8

  • Thanks for the background video that is fine

    Re the button, if you go back to the page I linked, you will see I added an image below the button which is what I see when editing – as I said I made the hover red to stand out, but when saved and viewed it is black!

    TIA, Dave

  • Okay, so the button text is inheriting the link hover color from the content settings.

    To fix this, remove the link colors set under Customize > Colors > Content, and instead, set them under Customize > Colors > Body.

  • Thanks Alvind,

    I see what needs to be done, but why does the settings in the Customizer trump the global class ?
    Isn’t that a bit confusing and messy ?

    Is there someway to have it so the settings in the custom class are always used ?

    TIA, Dave

  • The issue was caused by CSS specificity. Link colors set under the Content section have higher specificity and will override other styles.

    That’s why we recommend setting link colors under the Body section instead. This ensures the global link color applies sitewide, while any custom link color set via block styles or global styles will correctly override the Body color when needed.

    Also, this issue typically affects button links only, and updating the color setting in the Body section resolves it.
