Subcategories not showing up on Homepage

  • Hi,

I can’t seem to create a hierarchy for my categories.

I have created several subcategories and assigned them an already existing category as a parent, but they still appear as ordinary categories on the front page, whereas I would like them to appear underneath the parent category to which they belong as Sub-categories.

I know that some themes don’t allow that.

I have tried using a plugin and this one doesn’t appear anywhere: “Collapsing Categories” plugin.

The idea is to create a silo-structured type of website.

    Can you help?

I know my way around and I have tried everything.

    Kind regards,
    Celestin

  • but they still appear as ordinary categories on the front page, whereas I would like them to appear underneath the parent category to which they belong as Sub-categories.

I don’t think that’s a WP default behaviour, do you have an example to show me?

  • Hi Ying,

Well I agree with your statement, since it is the first time I am having this problem.

First, I troubleshoot the website to see if there were anything funky; but the Ai said all is very good.

But some themes don’t allow sub-categories or are not structured for silo-site (but to use a plugin).

It didn’t work and I don’t like to use many plugins on my sites.

I also believed that it could be the length of the categories and sub-categories, thus shorten a few of them.

    But still nothing.

Here are the screenshots you asked for:

    2- https://awakenwords.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Awaken-2.png

Two sub-categories still appear as categories, not under their main parent Category.

I hope all these explications help solve my small hiccup.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,
    Celestin

  • That doesn’t look right, are you sure this menu is assigned to the primary navigation?

If so, can you disable all plugins, and share an admin login with us so we can check the bakcend set up?

  • Hi Ying,

    Thank you.

    All is well now.

I only had to add more content for everything to fall into place.

    Cheers,
    Celestin

  • Hi Ying,

I have a different concern now.

I hope you can help me.

I excitedly deleted the example of “about me page” That came with “Avery theme” that I am using.

Since I am using blocks for everything and I am not used to it and I am having a difficult time centering the whole text and image as it appears on your example: https://awakenwords.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/AboutMe.png

    How do I that?

    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks.

    Celestin
