Table: Unable to set column width

  • Greetings.

Please look at the table on the page and help set the width of first column to say 30%. This will help eliminate too much empty space in the table.

Right now, it is set to “Fixed Width table cells”.

When I try to edit html version of the table, it doesn’t work and it suggests something like automatic block recovery.

    Please guide.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

It’s not possible with the core Table Block as it doesn’t provide the kind of options needed for greater control, even with custom CSS.

For that kind of functionality, you might want to look at third-party plugins like TablePress or WPDataTables.

  • Noted.

For static tables that may have hyperlinks, please advise which plugin is better out of the two.

    Thanks.

  • Personally I would go for TablePress, as it is more lightweight compared to the other one.

  • Noted.

I installed the TablePress plugin however I still do not see the option to customize column-width, say, for the first column.

Please look at the link and guide.

  • TablePress is a third-party plugin so please check with their support team.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Leo, thank you, I was able to refer their documentation.

  • No problem 🙂
