The “generatepress-content-width” plugin

  • Hi guys
I may have inadvertedly been using a generateblocks plugin feature in Widgets.
When I deactivated the plugin, the following message popped up in the Widgets section.

The “generatepress-content-width” plugin has encountered an error and cannot be rendered.Your site doesn’t include support for the “generateblocks/image” block. You can leave it as is, convert it to custom html, or remove it.

When I reactivated the geenrateblocks plugin, the error went away.

    Can you illuminate me ?

  • Hi there,

It sounds like you have some content built with blocks from the Generateblocks plugin, so you need it active for the blocks to render.

May I ask why you disabled it?

    Let me know 🙂

  • That’s just the thing. I haven’t used it yet. I installed it couple years ago, kept it up to date but didn’t build anything with it so decided to deactivate it. Why could it interfering with my widgets ? The widgets I’m referring to are in my sites right sidebar. Till now I presumed I was using only the generatepress native theme options.

  • Can you link me to your site? It sounds like you are using the image block from the Generateblocks plugin.

As for the “generatepress-content-width” plugin issue, it’s a known issue. You can try adding this PHP code.

  • Try this page,( shared in private box) there are no ads running on it so its cleaner.

  • Yes, you are using GB’s image blocks in the sidebar widgets, so you do need the plugin active.

  • I’m looking deeper and I was playing with creating patterns with a view to splitting a new home page into sections using container blocks. It appears that this container is not part of the native generatepress pack but included in the free generatepress plugin. I could be wrong. So I’ve inadvertently created the widgets too too using the generateblocks plugin! Its not biggie if so as I’ll just leave the plugin activated.

  • Yes, the plugin can come in handy 🙂 I recommend keeping it.

  • They’re image widgets and apart from being colored a light blue, they’re identical to the default image widgets so thats how I made the mistake. God knows how many images I’ve being uploading in posts using the generate blocks image block instead. Will those stop displaying if i deactivated the plugin?

  • The image will still show, but the settings set in the block will not render.

For example, if you set a margin or padding to the image, and you disable the GB plugin, then the margin/padding will not apply but the image should still show.

  • thanks Ying. I’ll be more mindful in future and I guess Generateblocks will stay active.

  • No Problem 🙂
