Up until now, I’ve been using GeneratePress, GP Premium, and GenerateBlocks with GenerateBlocks Pro. I’m using these to set up a website. But I saw a theme on One that I wanted to try. I downloaded and installed it, but a warning message told me I had to uninstall the previous theme before installing the new one. In other words, I understand I have to uninstall GP before installing the new theme. My question is: can I uninstall GeneratePress and Premium without any problems and install a theme from One? What will happen to the GenerateBlocks? And will I lose the content I’ve added to GeneratePress? Thanks… I don’t dare say it’s urgent because it isn’t, but I’m really stuck.

Unfortunately, no. The site relies on functionality provided by the GeneratePress theme, GP Premium, and GenerateBlocks as well.
If you uninstall or deactivate any of the products the site currently depends on, some features, styling, or layouts may stop working as expected.

Alvin, thanks. Now: without uninstalling any of the four, can I install a One theme—or a non-One theme? I’ve tried with two themes after completely cleaning up GeneratePress… the themes install, but they can’t be modified in many ways, and a warning tells me I have to uninstall them. If that’s the case, do I have to build everything from GeneratePress, from scratch?
Thanks for your response; I’d appreciate it if you could answer this one too, because if I can’t install a new theme on GP, since I don’t have the knowledge, I’ll have to return the One theme, if possible. -
Both GP One Starter Sites and non-GP One Starter Sites require the relevant GeneratePress plugins. The main exception is that some non-GP One Starter Sites do not require GenerateBlocks Pro.
I believe the main issue is that you’ve already imported one Starter Site and are now trying to switch to another one. Is that correct?
If so, the previously imported Starter Site setup should be removed before importing the new one. Your existing content, such as posts and pages you’ve already created, should remain, but I strongly recommend doing this on a staging site first to avoid any unexpected issues.

Alvind, thank you for replying again, especially since I’ve already requested a refund and might be able to avoid it. I bought One on June 26th. Before that, I’d used WordPress with Elementor, Divi, or WordPress 7. But with Generate, I didn’t know how to set up a site; I was missing the menus and header. So a few days ago, I downloaded a One theme, keeping only the four essential elements and cleaning up all the pages, posts, etc. But since I could not only download the new theme but it also installed in seconds, I thought I could configure it. However, it was barely modifiable, and I immediately encountered a strange message saying that before installing a new theme, I had to uninstall the existing one. But since I knew that WordPress Generate couldn’t be uninstalled, I thought it was about doing the cleanup you mentioned. I tried it, then another thorough cleanup with a second theme, which also couldn’t be modified, and again, the same warning message appeared. But I didn’t think a reference theme couldn’t be installed. And then I received your reply, so I realized it wasn’t worth the effort, given my limited knowledge, especially since I couldn’t even get the site working. From what you’re saying, it’s more complicated than I thought, or perhaps my ignorance is greater. Thanks for your response. I understand I need to know how to set it up—or ask someone for help—and that’s the only solution, always using GP.
