Trying to create 2 column block hook

  • Hi,

Trying to create a 2 column block hook like in screenshot att.

Weirdly, when I set the 2 containers in the two colum grid that are set at 50% they align fine at 50PX but when I try to set them to 500 each they stack and the 500 width refreshes to 50.
Main container I dont have a defined width as per other block hooks but if i change it makes no difference however the max width box I cant input.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Rob,

When you say 50px, are you referring to height, width or something else? Can you let us know?

  • 50px width, I am trying to set them to maybe 450px width.\

    Thanks.

  • I’m not sure I understand still. Can you explain a bit more?

The screenshot you shared seems to just be using a 50% width for both Columns/Containers.

  • The screenshot I shared is what trying to achieve. It is not my site.

  • I’m trying to recreate that screenshot.

I am trying to set the width of each grid container to 500px – max width is blocked out. If I place 500px in top width box of each container they stack – the containers stack on top each other, the containers don’t align next to each other horizontally.

  • Give the Columns a 50% width.

Then, insert the Grid inside a Grid Block that has a 1000px max-width. That should work to achieve the look you’re going for.

  • Dont understand mate sorry, I see nowehere to set the grid block to 1000px – do u mean the container it is inside?

And secondly to clarify – I should place a grid in another grid?

    ss att

  • Do u mean the “editor width” under “block element” under “element”?

  • This is what I mean -> The setup should be something like this:

    -Container Block
        -Grid Block
            -Container Block
            -Container Block

The parent Container Block should have a max-width of 1000px. It then has a Grid Block inside it which has 2 columns.

The two Container Blocks under the Grid Block should have a width of 50%.

  • Thanks Fernando, that’s worked.

For the social icons in the new ss, I’ve created 3 column grid in container, but the actual “share on facebook” etc icons – are they found in GB?

    Thanks

  • There’s no such feature in GB.

You’ll need a third-party plugin or a custom code for such a share button.

What’s there in GB is a regular link button to which you can add an icon to. Reference: https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/icon-overview/

  • No worries, thank for clarifying Fernando.

    Thanks for the link.

  • You’re welcome, Rob!

  • Hi, sorry, bit off track but:

    1. I have replicated social share image and text design – pls see ss att, i need specific code right for each social platform that generates the share link?

    Or,

    2. Would you know how to keep this shortcode’s social media icons on a flat level in a container. I’ve tried padding but no joy or adjusting the min or max height of the container to just a slighty greater px as the social icon image. Right now you can see they are not on a level surface.

    Thanks,

  • Can you share the link to where we can see you’ve implemented this?
