Hi folks
I’m trying to create a custom homepage for my site with an image and some writing On it however I can not change the size of the image or get my writing to move at all
Any help or suggestions
-
Hi there,
are you wanting to place the writing over the image ?
-
Hi David, yeah I’m wanting the writing over the image also want the image to go the full width of my banner ?
-
Hi there,
Select the root container, and go to the background panel, you can choose an image as its background image.
The headline should be on top of the background image.
Let me know if you need further assistance on this 🙂
-
Hey I’ve tried that before my image is still tiny and can’t stretch the full site ? And when text is there I can’t adjust it to the centre of the image
-
Can you share a link to the page where we can see the problem ?
-
Sure David do I need to send you the login details etc so you can see ? Also is it only you that can see them ( my login details I mean)
-
I just need to see the front end of the sites, no need for logins

hi David now i can get everything nearly right i just can get the photo to go full width even though i have set it to full width
-
Unfortunately screenshots don’t really help to solve issues like this.
Can you provide the link to your site as David requested?
Thanks!

There are a couple of issues that I can see:
1) If you want the image to be full width of the screen, then you don’t need an inner container:
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/container-overview/2) The background image is not wide enough to be full screen:
https://www.screencast.com/t/DTSVkBy8u5Try an image with 2000px in width without the extra space/padding on the left and right.

Thanks Leo I’ll give that a go tomorrow, if I have any issues can I just reply back yeah
Is there a way I can delete that inner container without deleting everything else
-
Yes, you can drag the content inside the inner container out to the parent container, then remove the inner container.
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/select-and-move-blocks/#move-a-block-using-list-viewBut do you want your text to be contained width? If so, you should keep the inner container and make sure you add the background image to the parent container which is full width.
-
Yeah I want the text to.be contained, so I’ll change the background image from the inner to the parent one and change the pixels to 2000px
