Hi there!
With all the big changes happening, I have some questions:
1- Where is the public roadmap for Generatepress and Generateblocks?
2- Where can we add suggestions? There used to be both but now I don’t find any of those pages anymore.
Regarding the new and 2.0 Generateblocks, and after having explored it quite deeply, I must say:
3- I appreciate all the changes but I have to agree with other comments I’ve seen around: Despite all the new possibilities, it is a big step-back in terms of usability and user-friendliness, and in the long run this can be a big drawback:
– Overall it requires more clicks to perform basic tasks, it feels rough in terms of workflow.
– It feels like you are gravitating heavily towards experienced users and/or users with css knowledge, which is fine by me, but most of my clients will find it veeeery counter-intuitive, to put some simple examples: The use of backgrounds with code displayed instead of simple color buttons like before, the layout tab is basically a transcription of css rules and options for grid, flex, etc. no explanations whatsoever. Before it had already some of these rules but it didn’t feel as overwhelming as now.¿Are you guys aware of this and/or planning on refining the aspect of the tool?
4- As for other suggestions:
– The image block is still lacking in something I find essential: mask. Are you guys planning into allowing a svg mask option?
– What about a gallery/slide block?Thanks!

A gallery block is the missing piece for me. The service templates just added would nearly always come with a request from a client to easily post their latest jobs, including a gallery. Right now to do that in the GP+GB you either need an ACF Pro license or use the nulled SCF that Matt made available on .org. And it still needs PHP adding into a hook with custom css to display the gallery.
I have a licenses for a very well updated and supported ThemeForest theme which has a simple ‘post gallery’ toggle available on any post type you wish. It’s then extremely easy for a client to add images of their own work as part of a wider portfolio. Maybe the GP team consider that kind of functionality as outside of the theme scope, but the lack of a gallery block prevents me from using GP on service/sme sites of that nature.
I know there are plenty of WP gallery plugins available but they’re hideously bloated, upsell nagging things that graffiti the WP dashboard. I would much rather have that functionality in GB blocks.

Feedback and Roadmap
can be found here:
https://learn.generatepress.com/To address your main points. Yes we are aware that some users are finding the new tools are too technical and can be a little overwhelming. To remedy this we are actively working on:
New Docs – already in progress:
https://learn.generatepress.com/
If theres some specific docs you would like us to priorities then please let us know.New Tutorial Videos
We are working on primer videos that will assist with onboarding and the basics of using the tools. These should help displace
the immediate concern of it being too technical.Block Setting shortcuts
we will be adding more shortcuts to the block settings, for example: a quick color pallet that incorporates all colors for all states in one place. All of which will be aimed at reducing clicksPatterns
We will be adding to the pattern library so you have more prebuilt options to choose from that will minimise the need for technical work.I made a note regarding your concerns on the UI. I will see how we can address those.
SVG Masks. If you want to add that to our feature request. It should be possible as we added the the Shape Block and with some manipulation it could serve that purpose.
Slider/Carousel is high on our feature requests and something we plan for later this year.Once more ,thank your for your feedback, we’re really open to such great feedback.

Thanks for your feedback as well David, when you say “I made a note regarding your concerns on the UI” you mean in this thread or regarding the other thread where I go much more in depth on to what could be improved? in case you didn’t see it:
https://generate.support/topic/improvements-for-2-0/
I would like to know your thoughts on that too (whether it makes sense or not), since I took quite some time into writing that.
Thanks again!
