Youtube embed dimensions not responsive?

  • Hi team,

I have set up a Content Template for my blog posts. The container width is 680px. However, when I look at a post with a Youtube embed (using the default WP embed feature), the video iframe shows with 1200px x 675px dimensions, hardcoded in the iframe html.

I don’t remember this being an issue before… I’m wondering if it’s a function from GP producing that? And/or how to fix it? I don’t know where these dimensions come from. All I can think is that in Customizer > Layout > Container I have set 1200px as the “Container Width.” But I’m overriding it with the Content Template element anyway…

    Here is an example: https://www.holacracy.org/blog/leading-virtual-team-meetings/

    Can you help? Thank you..

  • Hi there,

GP does not have the ability to alter an iframe or WP’s video block. Make sure you do not include the width 1200px in the embed code.

  • It’s a typical Youtube embed, pasting the link in the block, that’s all. That’s why I’m wondering why that size is being set…

  • Hi there,

You could try using an HTML Block and inserting the video’s embed code. That way, you can manually set the video dimensions to your preference.
