ACPT Support?

  • I’ve installed the ACPT plugin and have been having issues creating a template element for posts. There have also been some issues in the block editor with things not behaving normally. I realized that probably Generate Press isn’t compatible with this plugin.

Is this correct and are there any plans to add this functionality in the future?

    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Hi there,

I never uses the plugin, so I’m not familiar with it.

Does the block editor issue go away if you change to twenty-twenty-one theme?

And what is the issue? You can upload screenshot to https://postimages.org/ and share the link with us.

  • Good suggestion, Ying. I did try twenty-twenty-four. After more exploration, I’ll post more information about what I have learned. ACPT ‘should’ work even if it’s not officially supported. This may take a day or two as I have some other projects.

    Thank you.

  • No problem, keep us updated 🙂

  • ACPT provides three Gutenberg blocks which work with the Twenty Twenty Four theme but aren’t working with GeneratePress. The blocks show up and can be placed. They don’t link to the custom fields in the select box for the block.

I would like to know if this can be fixed or support added for the blocks if possible.

    Thanks,
    Tom

Where did you use the blocks in Twenty twenty four? In a page or a template?

And can you try twenty twenty one? As twenty twenty one is a non-FSE theme, just like GP. While twenty twenty four is an FSE theme, which is different than GP.

I would like to see if the plugin works with non-FSE themes first.

    Let me know 🙂

  • It does not work in Twenty twenty one (with the Gutenberg blocks) so that’s a good observation on your part. Exact same issue as with GeneratePress.

  • Oh yes, as to your other question I used it in a template on Twenty twenty four.

  • Hi there,

it sounds like the plugin is only compatible with block based themes.
What is the plugin? Do you have a link to it in the WP repository ?

  • Hi David,
I only just saw your reply, I’m sorry this took me so long. I’m using the Pro version, but the plugin link for ACPT (Advanced Custom Post Types) is as follows:
    https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/acpt-lite/

    Thanks!

    Tom

  • Oh ok, interesting. I suggest raising the issue with the plugin developer.
GP is built to WP coding standards so there should be no reason for it not to work with it.

  • Let us know what you find!

  • Will do. I found the following from 2022 in the ACTP Roadmap for ‘up next’:

    —paste—
GenerateBlocks is a small collection of lightweight WordPress blocks.
    https://generateblocks.com/
The main goal is to have an integration of ACPT as a data source for dynamic content blocks.

That was a long time ago, so I submitted a request for integration. I will advise on this thread if and when this issue gets resolved. Regarding my understanding, I haven’t had time to experiment, so I’m guessing it works with GenerateBlocks but not GeneratePress.

  • I installed the plugin to take a quick look.
The one block it provides, doesn’t render its content in a classic theme like GP or Twenty21 until the view has been refreshed.
So whatever method the plugin developer is using to render the content live in a block based theme ( eg. Twenty24 ) is not compatible with PHP themes. This is something the developer would need to address.

  • Hey, thanks for that, David. I’ve been away today so slow replying. I’ll bring that to the developer’s attention and keep you posted. I’m busy on projects so this might be a few days.
