Adding subhead to Blog Post

  • Hello – In my Page Hero element for blog posts I would like to be able to add a subhead directly beneath my blog post title, before the post date and author info. This subhead would be placeholder text and be something I can edit when creating a post. How do I make this happen? Please screenshot for clarification of what I am looking for.Screenshot Thank you.

  • Hi there,

you would need to create a Custom Field to store your subhead content.

WP has a built in function:
    https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/assign-custom-fields/

Or use a plugin like ACF ( Advanced Custom Fields ) or Metabox to create a Custom Field. These plugins have a better UI. ACF provides a free plugin.

Whichever method you choose you will create a custom field name eg. subhead and add a value to it.

To display the value in the element.

    1. add a Headline block
    2. activate its Dynamic Data option
2.1 leave the Data Source as the Current Post
2.2 set the Content Source to Post Meta and and in the field type your custom field name eg. subhead
