banner for a single category

  • Hello,

I use the Capital template in site library.

I want to define a featured image for the Blog and for two categories.

1/ I managed to define my header image for the Blog home page by creating a Block – Banner type element
    2/ But I can’t do it for a category

I give you my two screenshots corresponding to points 1 and 2.

Sorry for writing poorly in English.

    Sincerely,

    robin

  • Hi there,

Categories in WordPress do not have featured images.
To use a different image for each category, you would need to create GP Element – Page Hero for each specific category and set a static background image for each one

  • Good morning,

    Thank you for your reply.

This is what I did: it works for the Blog page. I create a page hero with a featured image.

But according to the screenshots I sent you, I can’t get it to work with a category.

  • Hi Robin,

Following David’s advice, create a separate GP Element – Page Hero for each specific category with a static background.

For instance, for the Videos category create one and set its location to Post Category Archive > Videos. Repeat this process for other categories.

  • Hi Alvind and Davis,

    that works !

But for the featured image to work in a specific category, I also had to add an exclusion rule in the “page header” Element which is present by default for all archives.

Thank you for your patience and your great work!

    Robin

  • You’re welcome, great to hear that!
