I have an archive loop and a gallery loop for the different sections of my site. They are set up pretty close to the same, however, for the Gallery category, when I go into a page, the comment section does not show up. I’ve checked the post to be sure that the allow comments checkbox is on, but still no comments section. However, I do get a comments section in the Journal category posts. Not sure why. Here are two pages to compare:
https://formyfelix.com/parents-promise/ – Gallery category post with no comment section not working
https://formyfelix.com/why-write-a-childrens-book/ – Journal category post with comment section workingAny help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,
in GP Elements, do you have a Content Template specific for your Gallery posts ?
-
karlspencer
If the Gallery loop I have in GP elements counts as a content template, then yes, I believe I do.
-
The Loop Element would be for the Category archive.
A Content Template would be set on the single posts.OK, in the Admin menu where you can see your list of Posts, Quick edit the one missing the comments box.
Can you make sure theAllow Comments
is checked ? -

Yes, Allow Comments in checked in the Discussion section.
I also went and checked in the elements section and there is a “Single post content template” that is set to Locations – Posts- All Posts. So I don’t that there is an issue in that template because I feel the results wouldn’t be different between the Gallery and Journal posts.
Let me know if you need any additional info.

I don’t think the content template is the issue as it’s been assigned to all posts, and it does not have control over the comments section.
Check 2 places:
1. In the post editor, is the
Allow comments
option ticked?2. At dashboard > settings > discussion, is the
Allow people to submit comments on new posts
option ticked?Let me know 🙂

I’ve checked both spots and both of the settings are checked. 🙁

That’s so weird, do you mind sharing the admin login with us so we can check the backend?
Please edit your first post on this topic, and add the info into the private info field. It will only be seen by the support team.

Good morning Ying,
Yes, I can give you access. I can create a user for you if you give me an email to send you access.
Let me know.

If you create a new Gallery Post, does it show the Comments form ?
For the login, you can just make up a email address, WP doesn’t care.

Hmmm… okay now I”m confused. When I create a new post, it works fine. But that original post still doesn’t show comments. I’m list as to why.
I’ve created the username and password and shared it via the Private Information section.
Thank you so much for all your help!

Ok, so it would seem that post has saved in its post data that it should have no comments, but its not being reflected in the Discussion meta boxes. It can happen on odd occasions and not something to be concerned about.
First try editing the problem post, and DISABLING the comments, and saving that change.
Then re-edit the post and re-activate the comments. And save again.if that fails then best to create a new post for it:
1. quick edit the post, and change its title and slug.
2. create a new post with the original title and slug
2.1 copy and paste your content from old post to new.
2.2 publish your new post
3. delete the old original post -

Okay, I ended up creating an entirely new post and that fixed it. Thanks again! I will close this ticket.

Glad to hear that!
