Container width question

  • I hope I make sense as I am new to this. I am having trouble getting the layout of the content container on the blog page of my site to extend to Full Width. There is no option for this that I can see. I have tried creating new pages, duplicating other pages but nada. I know there is a setting somewhere but after searching for a few days I thought I’d see if anyone could help me here.

    This is the page: https://totallyfrank.com.au/blog/

Thanks so much for any help.

  • Hi there,

You can create a new Layout Element with full width setting and apply it to the blog archive. Here’s how to do that:

Go to Appearance > Element > Add New Element –> Layout. You can name it Full Width Blog.

In the Content tab, select Full Width (No Padding). Under Display Rules, set the location to Blog.

  • Thank you for your advice. I’ve done what you suggested but now there is no padding on the left: https://totallyfrank.com.au/blog/

I feel like I have broken something somewhere.

  • I thought you said you wanted it to be full-width? 🙂

If you want some to have some padding, delete the Element you just created. Then, go to Customizer > Layout > Container and adjust the Container Width accordingly.

  • Sorry if I have confused you. What I mean is if you look at the blog page in the section with the title “Sample blog post” there is a pale gray vertical bar to the right and left of the main white content areas. I want that to be white. Does this make sense?

  • Ah, okay. In that case, you just need to change the Background color to white under Customize > Colors > Body.

  • Brilliant, thank you so much!!!

  • No problem!
