cover width inside generaateblocks container

  • Hello,
I am trying to create a wide cover image inside generateblocks container but it defaults to a small size and starts in middle of screen vs the the left side.

I want to be able to match the default cover block but use generateblocks container so i can show/hide based off device

In the link you will see the cover how i want it toi look below the cover inside a generateblocks container

  • Hi there,

I would recommend against using the WP cover block or any Alignwide settings since you are using the GB’s container blocks already.

Try removing the WP cover block shown here:
    https://www.screencast.com/t/7p7TCBBSaXUE

Then add the same image as the background image of the GB container:
    https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/backgrounds-options-overview/

Then add a Headline block inside the container for the Welcome to CrossRoads Family Farm text.

Let me know if this helps 🙂

  • Thanks.
Ok i have set it up like you said. I do not see how i can increase the width of the block
When i make adjustments to container width like 100% it does nothing.

The wordpress image cover is the width i want to use

  • I just noticed that you are not using the free GeneratePress theme. Can you make sure you are using GP here?

  • The GB container seems to default to a size https://ibb.co/DQNXNpH
I can not figure out which settings to make it wide

  • oh yes sorry i am using 2024 theme. I have generateblocks pro. Is there a support forum for that ?

  • As mentioned above, you are not using GeneratePress as the theme – I would assume you want to do that as you have a GP Premium license.

The style you are showing in your screenshot is coming from the theme you are using which looks like Twenty Twenty Four.

  • If i switch now to generatepress theme i loose all my styling and have to rebuild it

  • I have generateblocks pro. Is there a support forum for that ?

It’s the same forum here – please enter your GB pro support key in the first sidebar widget first.

The width issue is unrelated to GB though as I mentioned above:

The style you are showing in your screenshot is coming from the theme you are using which looks like Twenty Twenty Four.

I’m not familiar with Tnwety Twenty Four so I’m not sure where that is set within the theme.

  • If i switch now to generatepress theme i loose all my styling and have to rebuild it

I can’t answer this question, unfortunately. I would recommend starting a staging site and trying the switch there first.

  • Thanks, I have added support key for generateblocks pro.

How can i adjust the width of the GB container to say 1280px by 430px ?

  • Is generateblocks only for the generatepress theme ?

  • How can i adjust the width of the GB container to say 1280px by 430px ?

    This is already explained above:

The style you are showing in your screenshot is coming from the theme you are using which looks like Twenty Twenty Four.

I’m not familiar with Tnwety Twenty Four so I’m not sure where that is set within the theme.

The style from Twenty Twenty four is overwriting GB’s setting so you will need to figure out where that’s coming from and disable it.

If you are still at the early stage of building the site then I’d recommend switching to GP.

  • Is generateblocks only for the generatepress theme ?

No – but we cannot control the style added by other themes.

You can try using the Sizing option to set a specific size but I believe the style from Twenty Twenty Four will overwrite it unfortunately:
