Custom field value displays wrong using dynamic options

  • Since I can only style the content of a GP custom query loop in a page itself (not by adding an element and creating my own layout, using Content Template), I wanted to add the value of a custom field called [acf field=”date”] and the field has format j F, Y (Dutch format: 28 april, 2023). Using Dynamic data that value is added to the posts in my custom query, but the format is displayed as 20230428.

  • Hi David. Thanks, that works for me too.

Is this going to work with the regular dynamic data ‘out of the box’ as well (after the dynamic content has been removed from GP Premium in the future), or will this stay as an option for GP Blocks Pro only?

  • So the options we build into GenerateBlocks Free all rely ( well 90% do ) on core functionality of WordPress. It doesn’t require any extra coding or integration.

Whereas advanced integrations like the Date Picker field we have to write and maintain ACF specific functions to da that, and which is why it’s a Pro feature.

That function i provided, uses the render_block hook, it’s a core hook so that will work with any block now or in the future. Its not limited to GP or GB.

  • Thanks for explaining David. Makes sense. Until now I never had the need for the Pro version of GB. I noticed I can use the standard WP Custom Fields functionality and that works well with the dynamic data, but of course not so user friendly. Perhaps I will buy Pro when I have more sites that use more custom fields.
