Duplicate Featured Image

  • Hi Support,

Ummm, I’m sorry to bother you again. Can you please go into my live site? There you’ll see I only have 3 published posts.

The blog roll is working fine.

If you click on the actual post ‘Benefits of Scuba Diving From A Liveaboard’, you’ll see a duplicate featured image. How can this be corrected to show just one featured image?

The ‘How To Scuba Dive For Beginners – 11 Essential Tips’ is PERFECT!

    Thank you!

    Kind regards,
    Monica

  • Hi there,

You’re seeing two featured images because one of the images is added inside the content area. If you’ve already set a featured image in the page settings, you don’t have to add another image inside the content area.

  • Hi Alvind,

    Thank you for responding.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying. I only added the featured image in the WordPress Block editor. Do you mean that I put another featured image as a normal image, i.e. as in clicking on the Block editor’s + and selecting ‘Image’ and inserting it?

Alvind, it’s getting a little for me (I apologize for not getting back to you earlier, I didn’t know your email ended up in my ‘Promotions’ which I really don’t look at much).

I’ll look for your response in the morning.

    Kind regards,
    Monica

  • Do you mean that I put another featured image as a normal image, i.e. as in clicking on the Block editor’s + and selecting ‘Image’ and inserting it?

Yes, that is correct. It seems like there are two featured images, when in fact the other one is just a normal image inserted in the content area. So you juest need to remove it.

  • Hi Alvind,

    Thank you.

Ok, I removed the ‘normal image’ in the content area and it does look perfect now. I have one featured image showing. I did this on my staging site. Now I’ll go back to my real site and do the same. Before I mark this topic as resolved, I do have a question.

Question: I know I didn’t put the featured image in as a ‘normal image’ directly into my content. It was put in through the Block editor on the right side where it’s supposed to be set up. Do you know what would have caused the duplication to happen? I would like to understand this.

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,
    Monica

  • I’m not quite sure why that is happening. Does this issue keep occurring when you create a new post? If it does, then it’s something to look into.

  • Hi Alvind,

I’ve had this happen twice. I went back into my staging site and created another test post with a featured image and all is good.

I will call this topic as being resolved! If it comes back, I’ll open up a new topic.

Thank you for your help and patience. I appreciate it.

Have a blessed rest of the week, Alvind.

    Kind regards,
    Monica
