Duplicate posts show on pagination page

  • Hi,

I have a few posts(50) on my homepage with pagination. When I try to go 2nd/3rd or another page with pagination, it always shows duplicate posts on every pagination query page. It should show new and unique posts, but it doesn’t.

My web designer tried a few times and got help from other designers, too, but they couldn’t fix the problem. Is there any way to fix the problem? How would I fix it? Kindly help! Thanks!

Every pagination page show with this permalink too at the end of the website URL:

    example.com/?query-page=2
    example.com/?query-page=3

  • Hi Nabnas,

For reference, can you share the link to the page in question?

  • Can you try replacing the WP Query Loop Block with a GB Query Loop Block instead to test?

  • Are you implementing to use gb query loop instead of wp-query loop? Let me try, then…

  • Yes. Can you also check if you have a Sticky Post? For instance, this “Aerogarden Brown Spots: What You Can Do to Fix Them?” seems to be one.

  • Yes, it is a sticky post.

  • Is that the one you’re referring to duplicating? Or, are you referring to a different post?

  • No, under the sticky post, there are a few posts; on my site, there are 50 posts. But when I try to go to the 2nd page with pagination, all the posts are popping up from the 1st page to the 2nd and 3rd page and are duplicates. You can kindly check too.

It should show unique posts on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th pages. But it shows the same duplicate page on every page of pagination.

  • Sorry, for clarity, can you share a couple of screenshots showing the issue?

  • Here are the ss:

Homepage and pagination page 1 then pagination page 2 both show the same post!

    Is it clear now?

  • Here are the 2 ss:

    https://postimg.cc/gallery/1t0x5N6

One image is from pagination page 1, and the other one is from pagination page 2. But both page shows the same posts.

But it should show unique posts, not duplicate ones. (On the top there is a sticky post which is ok)

  • Hi there,

can you temporarily disable all other plugins to make sure there is nothing interfering with the query.
clear any caches after doing so and let me know.

If we can eliminate plugin conflicts first we can then look at other options.

  • Hi,

    Done that nothing has changed!

  • oh… hold on.

You’re using a WordPress core Query Loop block to display the list of posts.

But the Pagination block is a GenerateBlocks Query Loop pagination block, which will only work inside a GB Query Loop block.

If you want to use the core query loop then:

    1. Delete the pagination block.
    2. select the core Query Loop block at the bottom of that block click the + insert block button and search for pagination and add that block.

If you want to use the GB Query Loop Block.

    1. Delete the core query loop and the pagination block.
    2. add a GB Query Loop block
    3. with the GB Query Loop block selected in its Toolbar there is an option to Add Pagination.

  • Hi,

It seems the problem is solved. You are a lifesaver. Thanks! If any problem arises I will post here again.
