Dynamic fallback image not displaying on 404 or Search pages

  • candyappledesign

    Hi,

I’m running into this issue on multiple sites, and I’m probably missing something very simple. On this site, for example, https://vcomm.candyappledev.com/5g-new-technologies/, I have a hero element that displays the featured image, and the fallback image toggle is selected.

On regular pages, the fallback image displays correctly if no featured image is selected. However, it does not display on a 404 or search page.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

  • Hi there,

i suspect thats because the 404 and Search results don’t by default support Featured images, so the conditional check for an image would not apply.

We could use some PHP to force it – but personally i would create separate elements for the 404 and search results where a static image is set

    Hi David,

Thank you for the quick reply! That makes sense and I’ll just create a separate hero element with a static image for the 404 and Search Results pages.
