GBP + Blocksy

  • Hi, is the GBP Global Style not functioning properly with the Blocksy theme? The margin, padding, tags, etc. do not seem to work on my end. Do you have any workarounds that I can try?

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

Its most likely the Blocksy themes CSS . It writes really specific blocks styles that GB can’t overcome in its current version. If you can share a link to where I can see the issue then i can check that.

  • Here is the details:

  • Yep, its a theme style specificity issue that we cannot overcome at this time.
    Heres a related issue:

    https://github.com/tomusborne/generateblocks/issues/879

here we resolved the Headline Blocks Local styles by adding back in the H# tag to our CSS rules. But we cannot do that in the current Global Styles as we do not limit those styles to a specific tag.

In addition to that GB relies on a block wrapper in the editor. This is currently required to overcome WP automatically assuming EVERY block has certain width or margin settings. Without that wrapper GB would not be able define its various widths or spacing controls in the editor.
And this unfortunately gets hit with some theme styles like seen here:

Where its adding spacing to our wrapper….

Unfortunately there isn’t much we can do about that.

  • Okay David, thank you very much.

  • Thanks for understanding.
