Hello! I can’t seem to find anything in the forum that explains this (or else I completely missed it, and if so, I apologize).
Basically, the built-in element is showing the same image on every page – the wrong image. It’s not even the primary site image. I have no idea what this setting is coming from and I haven’t been able to figure it out.
Is there already a topic covering this? I currently have the site behind a maintenance plugin since that really screws up the various pages, but if there isn’t a topic already, I’ll take maintenance off so you can take a look.
Thank you!

Hi there,
It sounds like it’s loading the fallback image. Are you using one of the sites from our Site Library?
If you can provide the link to your site, it will be helpful too.

Thank you for getting back to me! Yes, I used one from the Site Library. I’ll provide you with login credentials.

Are you referring to the image with a running person in it? That was a default background image from the site library. You can replace it by selecting the root container of the element, navigate to Block settings on the right-hand side, and then Background > Image URL.

Hello! Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, that has not fixed the problem.
So I’ve found this in CSS: .gb-container-aa8d71aa::before
THAT is pulling up a weird image, and I have no idea what’s doing it. Here is the result.
1. The featured image is there twice for some reason?
2. BEHIND the featured image is that other image (a featured image for a specific short story). THAT image is on every single page, and again, I don’t know why.
It isn’t public yet, so I’m trying a fresh site library import.

Is that happening on every post or specific page? If it’s the latter, can you link us to this post?

Thank you! It’s happening on every single page. The posts seem to working, for whatever reason.

Hi there,
go to Appearance > Elements and edit the element title:
Page hero archives & pages
1. In the element settings sidebar, there are options to disable items.
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-page-hero/#settings
Disable the Featured Image. This removes the default featured image ( the one appearing above the hero ).
2. open the List View, and there you will see 2 x top level Container Blocks.
Delete container #1
And remove the background image URL from #2
