Hi there! I’m new to Generatepress and struggling to contain my text boxes to a readable width. Here’s a video of the experience I’m having. Any insight would be great — thanks!

Hi there,
Can you link us to the page in question?
We need to see how everything is set up to provide the best suggestion possible.
You can use the private information field.

Hey Leo! Dropping some more info in the private box for you.
Heads up, I’ve been playing around since making the post and the spacing looks better now…but it’s because I’ve used columns as a workaround. I’d still love insight on the proper way to set this section up.
Thanks!

Ok quite a few issues I see here.
1. Please set the Content Container to Full Width whenever you want any content to be full width on the page:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/content-container/2. Avoid using the alignfull or alignwide options from WP core. It’s not needed and will create issues once #1 is done:
https://www.screencast.com/t/00kTElYEw13. Whenever you want to use a Contained layout, insert an inner container to GB’s container block:
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/container-overview/4. Avoid using WP’s columns block when you are already using GenerateBlocks. The Grid Blocks from GB is much better:
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/grid-overview/5. This section doesn’t require a Grid or columns block: https://www.screencast.com/t/rz4vA1WB1
Simply add a GB Container with an inner Container and headline block as mentioned in #3 above.
You can set the size of the inner container using the Sizing options:
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/sizing-options-overview/Let me know if this helps π

For newcomers, I always recommend finding a site library template that looks similar to what you need and import it to a separate install: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/using-the-site-library/
Then can you see how everything is built.
It’s absolutely the best way to learn π

Follow up Q’s on 1 & 2:
1. Can you walk me through how to do this? I looked at the article, but the pictures in it don’t match what I’m seeing on my side.
2. Do you know where I may have set these, so I can go un-set them? Similar to question #1, I’m not sure where I need to be looking!
Thank you!

1. The Content Container settings are in the Layout metabox:
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/layout-metabox-overview/
https://docs.generatepress.com/article/layout-metabox-overview/#where-is-it2. The Block Alignment settings are located here: https://www.screencast.com/t/ZimLLOZTjEUm
It should always be set to Default.

Found the block alignment settings (thanks!) and reset those all to default.
But I still can’t locate the layout metabox. Here’s what I see on my side: https://www.loom.com/share/c35ee6ecfe494cc6a5cc01f46160822a?sid=2c684b7e-99a8-4f50-bb54-48d8d1590075

The Layout metabox is a Page setting and not for a specific block so make sure to click this first:

Still nothing! Here’s a 30 sec video: https://www.loom.com/share/944f851eba984caebb5c864f96dc544b

Hmm that’s strange. Can you check at the bottom of the page editor? Sometimes it gets moved there for some weird reasons.
Also, make sure you have the Admin privilege for the site.

Bottom on the page editor! Thank you for going back and forth with me on this. Marking as “resolved!”
