How to place shortcode header and footer elements?

  • Hello,
I am trying to place a template saved shortcode of a header and another one of a footer.
So far I was able to follow documentations and insert the header shortcode with elements enabled. But it showed under the original default header. I activated disable elements and went to customize the layout, but can’t seem to find a way to disable the original header or even footer.
I also need guidance on where to place the footer shortcode within elements. What type element to create? and where to place the footer template short code?
    Thank you

  • Hi there,

Can you use a Block Element Site Header and Block Element Site Footer to insert the template shortcodes?
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-site-header/
    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-site-footer/

Using those two elements type would replace the default header and footer of the theme.

If that doesn’t help then we will need to see the site, unfortunately – please start a staging site with an arbitrary URL for it if liability is an issue.

    Let me know 🙂

  • Thanks Leo,
I will try right now, if not I’ll try to setup staging, and will let you know by tomorrow.

  • Hi Leo,
So it took me a while just to realize that I didn’t have generateblocks installed. Anyway, installed and added elements, and it worked. Exactly how I intended it to look and function.
    Thank you!

  • No problem 🙂
