New site, Importing Content process never finishes

  • There is something wrong with import content process for theme Inbound, I have done everything I know to do, even had Siteground change timeout on shared hosting, but still session ends in failure. How can I get demo content imported I was supposed to have this site in process by Monday and I’ve spent two days on this GeneratePress import demo content process, what a huge waste of time, I’ve never had this issue when importing demo content before, it is something particular to GP process that is not good, need to know if I need to use another theme solution and get refund on GP?

Siteground hosting support set to: longest time possible on Shared hosting – 900 seconds, or 15 minutes

I have used this as reference from your forum:
    PHP max input variables 4000
    PHP time limit 1200
    PHP memory limit 256M
    Max input time 600
    Upload max filesize 300M
    PHP post max size 1000M

  • Resolved issue myself, I exported pages to retain content and did a clean install of WP, the content import for Inbound theme did take some time I thought it was going to fail which would have led me to cancel my subscription and go back to Elementor, I’m only here because of one theme I like, if that doesn’t work which now I’ve lost two days on it, I will not stay here, you guys have had many hours to respond to a Premium support request and have Not Done It. So imo this is a support failure and doesn’t set well with me, I wouldn’t be able to recommend this solution to other designers.

  • Hi there,

Sorry that the import was troublesome, and that we took too long to respond.

Just to be clear, did you do anything other than the server tweaks in order to get it to work? It just took longer than expected?

I’ll take a look at the site to see if there’s anything obvious that would holding up the process (large images, for example).

Again, sorry for any inconvenience caused.

  • To get it to work, I had remove page type indicators, Frontpage, Pirvacy Page, for example.

I then backed up import content to xml with export and reinstall wordpress and started over from scratch and then it worked, so I think the issue was related to the fact this site had migrated from godaddy to siteground, maybe some permissions issues that your program could resolve.

  • Interesting – I’ll do some digging to see if I can find the cause.

    Thanks for sharing more info!
