Hi,
the pagination urls for the category pages on my site aren’t SEO friendly. I just want a simple url like this- site.com/category/page=2 or something similar. current urls have other numbers in it.

pagination URLs such as
/page/2can only exist if the “page” itself is a paginated query.
but here you have a static page ( that is not paginated ) displaying a paginated query loop within its content. Hence the need for the query string.To have the paginated URL you would need to display that content on a post Category Archive page.
And you can customize that archvie using a GP BLock Element Loop Template:https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-loop-template/
Note that a Query Loop block you add to a loop template must have NO parameters set, and just the Inherit Query from Template option selected.
