Problem with CTA 2 from the new Pattern Library

  • I have inserted CTA 2 from the new Pattern Library.

But when there is more text, with line break, then the image to the right gets very small. With every new word in the second line, the image becomes smaller and smaller.

This must be an error. Can you fix this?

  • Hi there,

thanks for reporting that, i’ll get that fixed.
For now – select the Image Container block, and in the settings Layout > Flex Child set to Shrink to 0

NB: Patterns have been updated, you may need to wait a little while and then click the Refresh option in the pattern picker.

  • Hi David,

I have the new version, thanks. But now there is another problem.

In mobile view, the image gets very big. That was not the case in the previous version. Can you fix the mobile view also, so that is shown like in the previous version?

  • Hi there,

I just checked the CTA 2’s preview and the actual front end on mobile, it looks the same to me. The image expands to the same width as the text. Is this not the case on your site?

    Actual front end: https://app.screencast.com/DlOzjKtpZ86iJ

Can I see the issue on your site?

  • The problem is: The placeholder Image says 800x, see screenshot https://prnt.sc/I3wAgpXapdHu

    So I uploaded a 800px Image.

But then, the image is far too big on mobile. Maybe it is because of the wide height auto setting?

  • I’m not sure why it has the 800px placeholder label.

The image is set to 150px * 150px with medium size on desktop, and auto * auto on mobile.

Even if you upload the image with 800px, it will still be using the 300px * 300px version (medium size).

So no, you do not need to use a 800px width image for it.

  • Yeah, now I have cut the images to 300px. This works okay. But it would be even better if it became even smaller in mobile.

Maybe you should remove this 800p label, because it is confusing.

It’s set to auto * auto on mobile, you can define your own width/height, eg. 200px.

Yes, it is very confusing, I’ll forward this to David 🙂

  • Ok, thank you. What does “auto” mean in this context?

  • When the width and height of an image are set to “auto,” it means that the image will be displayed with its original dimensions. The browser will automatically adjust the width and height of the image to match its intrinsic dimensions, which are the dimensions of the image file itself.

  • Thanks, Ying.

  • You are welcome   🙂
