reuseable block inside GB query loop – changes not showing on front end

  • Hi – I’m having trouble with a reuseable block which I’m using inside a query loop block.

Any updates I make to the reuseable block show in the back end of the page that the block is being used on. However, those changes don’t appear on the front end of the site.

    I have tried:

    • Clearing my cache
    • Viewing the page in an incognito window
    • Disabling all plugins except the ones relating to GP and GB

I’m developing locally and not using any caching plugins. I’ve also put the site online and the same thing is happening.

Another simple reuseable block that I’ve trialled works as expected.

I’d be really grateful if you could take a look – I’ve included login information below. The query loop is inside the last container block on the home page. You’ll see that on the back end the text shows up in yellow and green, and there’s a left and right margin around each card, but these edits aren’t reflected on the front end.

    Thanks so much!

  • Hi there,

i would say that is odd, but the reusable block does seem to do some weird things.

Does it happen if you add it inside a differnt query loop on a different page ?

  • Hi David – yeah, the same thing happens: https://wordpress-905419-3492566.cloudwaysapps.com/query-loop-test-page/

If it’s helpful, free free to change / add anything you need to in the back end of the site. This site will be deleted once this is (hopefully 🙂) resolved.

  • Hi Caroline,

Can you try a), and if that doesn’t work, try b) here?:

    a) Choose Inline Embedding for the CSS Print Method in Settings > GenerateBlocks.
    b) Regenerate your CSS files in Settings > GenerateBlocks.

  • Hi Fernando – unfortunately neither of those suggestions have worked.

  • Ok, so i think its an isolated incident relating to the setup of that query loop / reusable block combo.
If you check the home page i made 4 query loops, using the same Query Params and Dynamic data.

    1. is just a plain query loop, no global styles and no reusable block.
    2. a copy of #1 but converted to a reusable with 1 change
3 & 4 repeating the above but using some global styles.

And they all seem to work as expected….

Do you want to try rebuilding the query loop ?

  • Hi David – thank you! I built a new query loop and it seems to be working now!

I guess that other one must have got corrupted somehow.

I really appreciate your help with this – thank you so much 🙏.

    Caroline

  • Yeah, it does happen and so far i have yet to find a reliable way to debug it.
But i am glad to hear that its working!!

  • Hi again David – I’m now having an issue getting the column gap I’ve set on the post template inside the query loop to display. If I can’t resolve it, can I post here or should I open a new ticket?

  • Actually it’s OK, I’ve figured it out. Thanks again!

  • Glad to hear that!!
