Right Side bar circle squeezed

  • Hello,

Just recently purchased a premium version of GP and I’ve been loving it so far. Thanks for building a great theme builder. Up until just a few hours ago, I had no issue whatsoever but just in the past 2 hours my Right Side Bar image is displaying circles squeezed. Currently, I’m using ‘Info’ from the Site library.

    Right-Sidebar-Circle-Squashed-1
I’ve also checked Appearance>Elements>Right Sidebar and even there the circles are all squeezed.

Below are some activities I’ve done in the past 2 hours but I’ve deactivated/rollbacked most of what I’ve done
    – I added WooCommerce plugin (still installed)
    – I added JetPack plugin which followed with WooCommerce installation (currently deactivated)
    – I’ve activated WooCommerce addon inside Appearance>GeneratePress (currently deactivated)

Another thing I’ve noticed is that the website is not currently displaying ‘logo’ as soon as Right side bar circle squeeze has happened. I’m not sure if that’s related to that.

I’d highly appreciate your help in advance. Please also note that I’m very new to WordPress itself and

  • Hi there,

those images are inside a GB Query Loop, can you:

    1. select the Image Block inside the Query Loop.
    2. in the image block settings, set the Width and the Height to 60px and then set the Object Fit to Cover

  • Hi David,

Thanks for your quick help considering it was during the weekend. As my site is to go public pretty soon, I really appreciate your prompt help.

    What I did:
I’ve made adjustments as you suggested but was still having a few issues. So this is what I did.
    A) A clean reinstallation of Generatepress
    B) Clear caching of the browser (Chrome, Edge)
    C) The image was still squashed so I set the image block settings as you suggested (80×80 instead)

    Result:
    Gap-Size-issue
Now the images are not squashed and look much better. However, I’m still seeing a gap between the image and the post title.

    Questions
    A) I couldn’t find a way to adjust wide gap between the title & the image (didn’t find any padding/margin values set.) Do you have any suggestions to fix this?
    B) Would hard coding image sizes (60×60 as you suggested) give impact on different devices (e.g. mobile)?
    C) I’m curious why this continues to happen even after fresh reinstallation. I’ve deactivated plugins that could have impacted this to happen (Smudge, Jetpack, etc.) but it’s still happening. Any suggestions?

    Again, thanks for your help.

  • A) increase the size of the image to 77 x 77 which looks to be the original site image sizes.

    B) can you make sure in the Image Block, Size is set to Thumbnail.
Then GB will load the smallest image size available which is 150px.

    C) the layout was built on the assumption that the thumbnail size images are cropped square, and on your site, some are not. So it requires the width and height to be set.

  • Hi David, thanks for the help and I apologize for the delay in writing this.

The answer C) all makes sense why that happened. It’s still worth mentioning that these thumbnails are all featured images from the posts which have longer widths almost always and are never a perfect square. I might have misinterpreted your answer though. Anyway, thanks for the help!

  • The Thumbnail size media attachment in Settings > Media has a default size of 150px x 150px and is set to Cropped – so it should return a square image…
And we assumed that would be the case for all sites, which was foolish of us. Ill get Library site updated so the image block has some explicit dimensions set ( as you have done ) to resolve this.

    Glad to be of help.
