Theme edit

  • Hi,

I am using the Chef theme. I am not tech-savvy so please bear with me. How can I organize my articles on the home page using their designated categories? Also the number of articles shown on the front page should be based on the number of articles indicated in the theme. As you can see, the number of articles seen is way more than what it ought to have for each section. Link to the website is in the private info field.

    Thank you.

  • Hi there,

do you have sticky posts? if so, those will show before the latest posts.

I think you have 2 sticky posts.

You can select the query loop block, add parameter > sticky > ignore.

Let me know if this helps!

  • Hi,

It has not been resolved. Also..there’s only one sticky post, and that has already been deleted.

  • Hi there,

A question: Which part of the section on your homepage do you want to customize based on categories? The current template uses a default post query, so the most recent articles will show up first.

  • Hi,

All the sections except for the first one. Also, if you could please help me— the number of articles shown on the front page (for all the sections) should be based on the number of articles indicated in the theme. As you can see, the number of articles seen is way more than what it ought to have for each section (affecting the look and aesthetic of the theme) Link to the website is in the private info field. Thank you

  • Hi there,

if you select the Query Loop Block, you can set the Posts per Page that it displays – see here:

    https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/query-loop-overview/#query-parameters

You can set each of them independently, but you cannot set them all to inherit the number in the Settings > Reading option as that only applied to blog and archives.

  • Hi David,

I have decided to revert back to my old theme as it’s still using the WP post where I can easily organize the articles based on categories. However, I encountered some issues with the theme a few days back, negatively impacting the site’s traffic…but it seems to have been resolved..(not so sure about that but GSE no longer notifies me of any error regarding the theme)

The question is: Is it okay to continue using my old Generatepress theme– which is no longer available among the current Generatepress themes on display? or will there be some technical problems that could arise from using an old theme? Also, can I copy a single section from chef theme and transfer it to my current theme? If so, can you please provide some steps on how to go about it?

I hope you can create themes that can make use of WP Post..I can’t find any theme I can easily work around with..the simplest I can use are way too plain.

Link to the website is in the private info field.Thank you.

  • It is possible to copy content from one site to another, and we can assist with that.

One thing, could you ask your Hosting provider if they provide a Staging Site feature?

If they do then you can create a staging copy of your live site, where you can make changes without affecting the live site. Then when you’re happy you can push those changes to live.

That would take some of the pressure off when it comes to making these bigger changes.

Not a problem if they don’t, we can work around it 🙂
    Let me know.

  • Hi,

Yes please..but I may have to prioritize this current problem I have with my other website. Do you have instructional video on how to install google ads using Generatepress theme?

  • Can you please raise a new topic for the separate question?

It would be much easier for us to help especially with multiple people helping.

    Thanks!
