Top Bar

  • Hello, I am trying to put information into the top bar. I’ll be putting social media icons and maybe a newsletter sign up.
I have not been able to get it to work.

    What I have done.
    – Tried to use the top bar widget. It is locked within the dash. Customize area anything I put in there doesn’t show up.
    – I made an element, but couldn’t get it to show in the top bar. I used a hook for secondary navigation. Nothing shows. I do have secondary nav module turned on.

    Any suggestions.
    Thank YOu

  • Hi there,

You can create a block element – hook, choose before_header as the hook name, then you can build the element using GB blocks 🙂

  • Thank you!
It looks great on the desktop and some larger tablets.
It’s horrible on the phone. Because the icons show up first. Is there a way to make this look good on mobile or do I need to do this another way>
    Thank you

  • Hi Jm,

For reference, can you provide the link to the site in question?

  • I’ve moved the hook.
But it still doesn’t the design for a phone.
I will need to percolate on a different design model.
However the convert kit form doesn’t show regardless where I put it.
Right now it is on the line with the social media icons.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Thank you! What design are you looking to have on mobile specifically? Do you have a mockup you can share?

  • I don’t have a mock up I can send it’s paper and pencil.
The issue I didn’t think about was the way the top bar or any added element would look like on the phones.

I am going to close this and play with other options on the site.
    Thank you for your help.

If you are using blocks from GenerateBlocks, there’re responsive settings that you can use to optimize the mobile layout 🙂
