New Global Styles & Pattern Library Problems

  • Hi Dave, if you have an existing site that has Legacy patterns saved.
You can export those from the Dashboard > Tools > Export. And then import them to your other site using Tools > Import.
This will give you the legacy patterns ootion, and the Pattern Library ( Legacy ) block will be available in the editor.

    @RajK
    – thank you for your feedback, it is much appreciated.
We have plans to address some of your concerns, for now if you can still use legacy patterns if you need.

  • Thanks David,
That works, so an easy solution for now…
I guess I will miss the old patterns, particularly the buttons – they were a great resource to call on.
And I can of course convert them to the new class based patterns.
Appreciate your support, have a great weekend, Dave

  • Glad to be of help and have a great weekend too

  • To be honest, I don’t think it’s so great that everyone is posting in my thread. Can’t you open your own threads for your own problems? It makes things very confusing here.

But apart from that, I still have the same problems with the patterns not loading. Not even after I have cleared the cache.

  • Apologies Sonja

For reference you can access the old online legacy patterns here:

    https://generateblocks.com/legacy-library/

Sonja, are you using the Local app ?

  • Hi David,

No need to apologize. I meant daveporter, of course.

That’s the way it is at the moment:

The legacy library on the website (from your link) loads extremely quickly
The new library now loads too, but quite slowly.

In my WordPress backend, the new patterns still don’t load, or only partially. So I cannot see nor use all of them. This is bad.

But I don’t know what you mean by Local app.

  • In one of your previous replies you stated this console error:

    /wp-json/wp/v2/media/4346?context=view&_locale=user:1
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 ()

This is the WP Rest API failing to connect.
First go to Settings > Permalinks and click save changes this will rebuild any broken permalinks including the REST API.

Then clear any caches, re-open the pattern library,
Refresh its cache. See point 3 here

If there is still an issue with them loading, open the browser developers console again and see if that errors still exists.

If the error is still there, go to Tools > Site Health. And check to see if there are any issues relating to the REST

  • I have done all that, but they still don’t load.

In the browser developers console is no error, but a few warnings.
There are no issues relating to the REST in Site Health

  • Could I get a temporary admin login to the site ?

  • Yes, the website is in maintenance mode, but here are is the login

  • Is this happening in the Chrome browser ?
What happens if you use Firefox or an alternative ?

  • Yes, I use Chrome. I have not tried it with Firefox yet.
Are you not experiencing the error?

  • On your site I have some issues with it in the Chrome browser.
    As does one other user.
Other browsers seem to work fine.

The issue we have is we cannot replicate the problem on our own sites or development servers.
Which makes debugging the problem more difficult as its localised.

If for now can you try a different browser ?
And would it be ok to keep the login so we can do some investigations ?

  • Okay, then I’ll try another browser.
Yes, you can log in with it at any time.

  • Thank you – and let us know if the other browsers works ok.

  • I should let you know: I have now tried this with the Firefox browser. And so far the patterns have loaded without any problems.
