Hero and Post block all messed up on all archives

  • Don’t know why, but on all of my archives, including the homepage of https://fwtmagazine.com/ all of the formatting got messed up. For example, the hero should be much larger and the text should be white. Also cleared cache, deactivated plugins, switched to the standard GP theme, and no changes. How did this happen and how can I fix it?

  • Hi there,

can you disable the SG Optimizer, its the most likely culprit for breaking the styles.
Then clear an caches and let me know.

If the issue persists, leave the SG Optimizer disabled and let me know

  • Ah, yes. It’s Speed Optimizer now, but I know what you mean. I deactivated it but I don’t see any changes. Perhaps you are?

  • Hi there,

The issue still exists from my end.

Can you try a), and if that doesn’t work, try b) here?:

    a) Regenerate your CSS files in Settings > GenerateBlocks.
    a) Choose Inline Embedding for the CSS Print Method in Settings > GenerateBlocks.

    Reference: https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/unstyled-content/

  • No to both attempts. Same.

  • I see. Odd.

I’m not seeing any server cache, but, to be sure, could you reach out to them to check if there’s any server or cdn cache? If there is, ask them to clear it.

If there’s none, can you try #1 here to debug: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/

It’s recommended to backup your site before proceeding with this.

  • I already did #1 yesterday when I first noticed the problem. It does not seem to be plugin related.

I’ll contact my host (A2 Hosting) about the cache.

  • Alright. Let us know how reaching out to your Host goes.

  • No updates from A2 yet, but I did run the homepage on Wayback Machine from January 2nd and perhaps you can educate me. All the missing styles seem to be from an inline style sheet. Where did that come from? What I created in the Elements? Or some place else?

  • I see. That should be served dynamically – it’s not from the Element. Maybe there was indeed caching from your server that caused a conflict with the file generation or, maybe it was a plugin that caused an issue at some point.

We’re glad though that you were able to find a workaround to fix the issue.

  • So this is what I got back from A2:

Thank you for contacting A2hosting Support. We are glad to assist you with your questions and concerns about clearing any server/wordpress cache on fwtmagazine.com.

I do not see any LiteSpeed or object/page caching(server side) enabled for the website fwtmagazine.com. However,I have cleared the wordpress cache for the website:

    @az1-ts101 fwtmagazine.com]$ wp cache flush
    Success: The cache was flushed.

How to clear the cache in WordPress

Please check and verify with your theme developers at Generate Press about the same.

If we can be of any further assistance do not hesitate to contact us. We are available 24/7 to assist you.

Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Can you check and see from your end?

  • Would you be able to create a Staging version of the site? If so, create one, and disable all non-GP/GB plugins there. Kindly share admin login credentials to this staging site as well.

  • Unfortunately, creating a staging site isn’t an option. There isn’t enough room on that server to do so. You have to look at the live site and work from there. You have the login already and I approve of you or someone else from the GP team to do this.

  • Alright. To be sure, do you already have a backup of your site before we run some tests?

  • Upon testing the issue only occurs with Blocks inside Query Loop Blocks which is weird.

Could you try to delete, download, and re-install GenerateBlocks?
