In the Code Snippets plugin the
Resize Grid Images
snippet is disabled.
Any reason for that ? As thats the one which should improve your homepage loading performance -
tiltin
No reason David, and it sounds like thats what we need.
Could you please enable it? If it doesn’t improve speed it might point to something underlying, and if that involves a lot of work I’ll get a developer in on it.
-
I enabled it.
Its made an improvement – where the images have a srcset.
But… your most recent images have no srcset – and i cannot see why.Can you install this plugin:
https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/And then run the plugin, it will regenerate missing thumbnail sizes.

Could RankMath Advanced Robots Meta setting for large images impact this?
I regenerated thumbnails.
I can post new large images if needed.
-
Regenerating the thumbnails worked. If you retest the sites performance its in the 90 green
Could RankMath Advanced Robots Meta setting for large images impact this?
To the best of my knowledge, It should not effect the images on the front end.

Hi David, working on posts but just tested site and got a new SEO warning:
robots.txt is not validLighthouse was unable to download a robots.txt file“If your robots.txt file is malformed, crawlers may not be able to understand how you want your website to be crawled or indexed. Learn more about robots.txt.”
-
Alvind
That could be due to an invalid sitemap URL in your
robots.txt
file.I see that you’re using RankMath. I believe this article could help with that:

Hi Alvind, RM plugin now says “robots.txt file is not writable.” after the work David and I did yesterday
-
The work we did yesterday is not in anyway connected to the
robots.txt
Check with RankMath support, the should be able to help debug the issue. -
tiltin
I’m on it David
(and wasnt implying; this just turned up this morning, not in the tests right after our work yesterday)
-
no problem – I understand π

Hi David,
The robots.txt was likely a glitch according to RM, and seem to have solved itself.
I published 4 posts with dimensions:
Landscapes 1400px
Portraits 1000pxRegenerated thumbnails increased score from 88% to 92%
I was wondering if those srcsets are correct now?
And the Code Snippets plugin the Resize Grid Images snippet is still enabled right?
-
Looking at the source code, i see that a) the various srcset images sizes are available abd b) the resize grid images code is working.
All looks good to me. -

Hope you had a good weekend David, it’s spring in Amsterdam! π
If you mobile speedtest homepage “Properly size images Potential savings of 386 KiB”
How come its still ‘overweight’?

So the tulips are out ? π
Looks like Litespeed is messing with the code again.
In the Pagespeed report, it shows you which images are a problem, there are only a few.
See here for an example of a bad image:https://app.screencast.com/9S1CzZHC5ekEy
You see it has the
ls-is-cached
class which comes from Litespeed
And it is adding the data-sizes to load.
And for the bad images google is loading the images based on Litespeeds parameters…Whereas the first image on the page is loading correctly. Notice it does not show in the page speed report.
And it and the other good images HTML is intact and contains thesizes
attribute that my PHP snippet added:https://app.screencast.com/YbfydG1XlRjde
I am not sure what Litespeed is doing or why it is only affecting certain images, you would need to ask Litespeed that.
