Happy Easter!
Disabling GP would have disabled the blog columns ( i assume ) which means a each image occupying a single column would have been displayed at over twice its current size. Hence google reports there is smaller saving to be had. You would see a similar result if you set the blog / archive to show a single column on mobile.
Some of this i feel like is Googles simulated device is not reporting a true representation , and that its actually requesting a x3 DRP Image size, hence even with the latest mods to the images it still seeks to load a larger image.
For now, as i am all out ideas it may be best to revisit this at a later date.

I hear you we’ll get underway and hope sollutions catch up; really love the full-width imagery and full grid.
Any chance it’s interference from another plugin, DigitalOcean or Clouflare? I could I hire someone to go through all our systems.
And could you please describe the core issue for my reference?
PS: Something else about images on PageSpeed (maybe related); test warns about “Serve images in next-gen formats Potential savings of 9 KiB” and points to the Logo-image being PNG. But if you open logo image in new tab, its a WebP image.Lastly, dont expect to change media settings soon, can I uninstall RegenerateThumbnails meanwhile?

Looks like Google picked up on that last change.
If you test now theProperly size images
opportunity has gone, and on 3 tests i ran the score is in the green 90+In Customizer > Layout > Sticky Navigation, you need to update the logo there.
RegenerateThumbnails – yes, you can uninstall it

EUREKA! That just makes my day David (if its still good by the end of it 🙂
Logo worked as well.
Any way I can show my gratitude, I’m so glad it worked out thanks to you man.
PS: the Desktop test still shows “Properly size images Potential savings of 618 KiB” can/should that be helped?

Awesome that is great to hear.
We do have a support development page if you’re interested:
https://generatepress.com/ongoing-development/Desktop – we could tinker the image sizes again for desktop.
But, i am unsure you would want to.
Googles test for desktop uses a simulated 1 x DPR device with a viewport of 1350px
At that low resolution those savings would be possible.
But most devices are at least a 2x DPR screen, and for those users the larger image size would be a necessity. Its the unfortunate weight off of quality vs performance. -

Done, I’ll keep that by hand and thanks again.
I´ll take your advice on Desktop images.
Admin made some server changes and test warnings went dropping, scores up.
I’ve listed other red and orange test warnings I thought could be relevant for the theme.
Is it okay if I post new topics for those, and see what we can do?

Hi David, I’m just monitoring any test changes so your great work stays intact and optimized.
After our work I noticed new mobile warning “Properly size images Potential savings of 42 KiB” (no new content is posted).
I’ll start adding content soon, see what happens.
